Our Story

The Mason Family have been growing eggs since 2005, under the brand Katie Joy’s Free Range Eggs. Starting with only 150 chickens on the family farm in Kojonup, in the last 17 years the Mason Family has expanded with 5 children, a new farm in Anketell (south of Perth) and far too many chickens to count. The original Katie Joy brand was centred predominantly around Katie Joy Mason who started it all, but has since evolved into the Mason Family Farm brand to acknowledge the contribution of the children to the family egg business.

Jack, aged 17, is the eldest of the Mason children and like his siblings, his debut with the chickens was in a baby carrier when he was only weeks old. He joined the payroll from about 8 when he graduated from 'good little helper' to a helpful helper and his sisters Asha and Lucy were not far behind. Tess and Barrie round up the family of 7 as the current ‘good little helpers’.
